Listening

An interesting thought came to mind as I was reading this blog...

Listening is more than not talking.

what we can all do...

So I was watching another video of an officer assaulting someone... actually between the tasering video at Vancouver Airport (where the polish guy dies), another tasering video where this guy gets it for not signing his ticket, and this last one at the poverty demo a few years ago...

I've come to one conclusion...

We should travel in groups carrying video equipment.   Read the article from the Star, and watch the video.   Notice that the officer was surprised that he got caught?   Notice all the other officers specifically making a point of trying to stop people from taking pictures and videotaping.    Similar thing happened at that airport, where the officers lied about what happened to cover their rear ends.

What?   You say police don't lie?   They are there to uphold the law and not to be the problem themselves.

Umm.... yeah, ok.   Welcome to humanity.   Anyway, I really don't care to go into that line of discussion.   That's for another time.   But I do have a solution.

Video cameras everywhere (handheld ones I mean).   The more the better.   Specifically where there are officers, demonstration, arrests, conflicts etc.   Once officers think twice about just reacting, maybe this will decrease.   Maybe.   I know that this "fudging" of facts is a regular thing.   I know one at least one case where a friend saw Toronto Police officers switch evidence.   If the court can't give justice, then we need to help them out.

Sad news...

Sometimes humans really suck...   I can't possibly imagine what kind of human being you have to be to do this.   It's the complete and utter pointlessness of it that amazes me.

If you read the article, you'll see the Rhinos had no horns poach.   Why would someone go out of their way, to kill endangered animals for.. what?   I obviously don't know the land-ownership fight too well, but I can't imagine any reason that could come even close to justifying it.

Sigh.
